Leg and Foot Armor (Greaves, Knees, Sabatons)
Leg armor takes constant contact on shins, knees, and hips in full-contact medieval fighting. This section covers greaves, knee cops, sabatons and hip protection (plate, brigandine, or mail) to protect the main impact zones without adding unnecessary bulk.
Shapes follow historical references and known analogs, with geometry tuned for real anatomy: shin curve, calf clearance, knee cup position, and room for padding. Segmented builds and strap layout keep the knee moving and the step clean, while buckles and straps provide a practical adjustment range for different layers.
For tournament use, focus is on safe edges, controlled gaps, and stable articulation under load. The design targets typical inspection criteria across formats (including HMB, IMCF, and others), but acceptance is always decided by each event’s marshals and depends on correct assembly and the current condition of the kit.
Durability in the field is about serviceability: replacing straps, resetting rivets, and restoring hang points after a season. Wear is usually local and fixed with straightening and consumables, keeping the set reliable for training and for the contact tempo of a buhurt round.
