Product description

Brigandine hips protection Type 1 is a straightforward solution for covering the hip/upper-thigh zone without overloading the kit or restricting your step. The design is guided by Western European historical prototypes (iconography and surviving brigandine/tasset concepts) while being set up for full-contact use.

The construction uses a dense textile base with a bonded layer. At the fastening points, reinforcing washers under rivets are used to reduce the chance of tearing under clinch pulls and repeated shock loads. Fit is tuned via overlap adjustment, allowing a sensible range of sizing without implying fully custom, per-person manufacturing.

In fighting, it protects the side and upper part of the thigh, helps manage hits to a vulnerable area, and supports safer work in clinch and body pressure. Mobility depends on correct strap tension and suspension height: when set properly, the legs stay functional for lunges, pivots, and backward steps.

Serviceability: standard riveted and strapped nodes simplify maintenance—straps/buckles, rivets, and suspension parts can be replaced without rebuilding the whole piece.

Tournament checks: the coverage and geometry align with common inspection logic across multiple formats (including HMB and similar rulesets), but final approval always depends on the specific event requirements and the marshal team. Check local rules for coverage, edge finishing, and allowed materials.
