Decorated oriental shins with knee rondels
Oriental shins are shin guards for full contact historical combat, developed with reference to historical sources and documented analogues of Eastern leg protection. The shape is intended to cover the shin and keep the knee area compact for contact work.
The defining feature is reinforced knee protection. Two large side rondels support the knee assembly: they help absorb lateral strikes, spread impact over a wider area, and reduce the chance of glancing hits catching the joint line. This is relevant for both beginners building safe basics and experienced fighters who need predictable durability across events.
The decoration is applied as etched steel patterning. The rondel motif can be changed by agreement while keeping the working geometry consistent with a combat-oriented build.
For tournament environments, fit and serviceability matter: the shins are intended to be tuned via strap placement and worn over appropriate padding. As with any armor piece, check the requirements of your specific ruleset (edges, fastening, safety checks, allowed construction details), since different organizations and formats apply different standards.
Use & care: inspect fasteners, edges, and the knee area after hard sessions; minor dents are typically correctable with straightforward straightening and localized repairs. Preserve the etched finish with gentle cleaning and regular anti-corrosion protection.
