Lamellar cuirass with scales for buhurt fights
Lamellar cuirass with a combined “plates + scales” layout is a work-oriented torso solution for buhurt / full contact. The plate set helps distribute impact over multiple elements, while the row-based construction keeps functional torso mobility for breathing and clinch work.
The design is oriented on historical sources and analogues of Eurasian lamellar armor, with an Eastern-style profile. Geometry is developed with typical body anatomy in mind (collarbone line, rib arc, waist) to reduce snag points and keep a stable fit over an under-armor padding layer.
Service and repairs: lamellar is valued for season durability. Common maintenance is replacing lacing/fasteners or a damaged element instead of reworking a large plate, which supports fast turnaround between events. For tournaments, focus on safe edges, secure fixation, and no hazardous protrusions; always compare the build to your rule set (HMB/IMCF, ACL, SCA heavy, etc.) because inspection criteria differ by format.
Fit: size is tuned via the attachment system and correct sizing choice. By agreement, plate dimensions can be adjusted to target the desired coverage and movement. Wear it with appropriate padding and re-check lacing/straps after each fight day.
