Chainmail torso armor reinforced with overlay plates, based on Medieval Middle Eastern prototypes. Combines plate-style impact spread with the “moving” feel of mail on the shoulders and body. Built for clinch and ground work: less bulk, easier layering over padding. Plate configuration can be adjusted by agreement; plate gilding is available as an option. Suitable for training and tournaments when checked against the rules of the specific format.

Product description

Plated chainmail is a torso armor solution for buhurt and full-contact fighting, made with reference to historical sources and Medieval Middle Eastern analogs. The concept blends mail flexibility with targeted plate reinforcement: plates take and spread impact, while mail keeps the body and shoulder line mobile.

Protection and durability: plates cover high-load zones on the torso to reduce ring failure and blunt-force push-through during heavy hits. The mail layer helps manage edge contact and keeps coverage continuous in close range exchanges.

Mobility: the build stays flexible around the shoulders and sides, supporting arm work, torso rotation, and breathing under load. Designed to be worn over padding and to integrate with common strapping and suspension setups.

Fit: geometry is tuned to typical torso anatomy and shoulder seating to limit excess volume and mail “ballooning.” Size is selected from standard product parameters.

Service and repair: the mail can be maintained by replacing rings and re-weaving local sections; plates and fasteners can be restored after dents or hardware wear (rivets/straps). Routine inspection of attachments and edges after sparring is recommended.

Options: plate arrangement can be changed by prior agreement; decorative finishes (including gilding) are available as an option and are separate from combat performance.

Event checks: this armor typically meets visual and measurement checks when assembled correctly, with safe edge finishing and compliance to the weight/thickness requirements of the specific ruleset. Final approval depends on the event regulations (HMB, ACL and other formats) and the marshals’ decision.
