Kiev helmet with fixed mask & aventail for buhurt
Kiev helmet is based on 13th-century sources and period analogues. A fixed mask and neck coverage help in clinch pressure and close exchanges. The mail aventail shields jawline and throat, while the dome is sized to work with a padded liner. Included: aventail, soft suspension/padding with hidden reinforcing plates, and straps. The mask has a gold-look titanium nitride finish for practical maintenance, without claiming a period coating match.

Product description

The buhurt helmet “Kiev” is developed with reference to historical sources and 13th-century analogues, without claiming absolute museum-grade reconstruction. The build is intended for full-contact use: the dome manages repeated impact, while the fixed mask and mail aventail close the face and neck line.

Protection: the mask covers the frontal face zone against direct hits and clinch pressure. The aventail protects jaw, throat and side neck areas, reducing edge catches and glancing damage around the lower rim. Dome geometry and edges are shaped for deflection and durable daily use.

Mobility & vision: a closed face layout adds stability in hard exchanges and grappling. Practical breathing openings are kept for fight pace. Correct setup (liner thickness + strap tuning) keeps the helmet centered and helps reduce neck fatigue.

Fit & maintenance: inside you get a soft suspension/padding with hidden reinforcing plates; fitting is done through sizing choice, liner thickness and strap adjustment. The TiN gold-look finish is easy to clean after training (contact marks are possible on any working coating).

Included: helmet, aventail, internal padding/suspension with reinforcements, straps.

Tournament checks: coverage and geometry are aligned with common full-contact formats (e.g., HMB/IMCF/ACL). Final acceptance depends on the event rules and marshals’ decision; confirm thickness, padding and straps against the local rulebook.
