Gorodets helmet with decoration for buhurt full contact
Gorodets-style Russian helmet is made with reference to historical sources and period analog prototypes from the 13th century. The build targets full-contact historical combat: the dome is shaped to stay centered under impact, while the face line and neck are covered with hidden protection to reduce exposure during exchanges and clinch pressure.
The package includes a chainmail aventail, an internal padded suspension/liner with additional hidden plates, and a strap system. This setup helps distribute load, limit rotation, and keep the helmet from dipping during pulls and body contact. Fit relies on considered geometry matched to common head anatomy; final tuning is done through correct sizing and adjustment of padding and straps over your arming cap.
The brass decoration is a styled element rather than a strict historical feature; it does not change the core priorities—protection, stability, and service life. For season use, straps and padding are serviceable and can be replaced as they wear.
The helmet can be configured with typical tournament inspection criteria in mind (including HMB/IMCF-level formats and club rules), but approval depends on the exact configuration, condition, and on-site equipment control at each event.
