Griffon bascinet helmet for buhurt full contact
The Griffon bascinet is a practical stylization of a European bascinet for regular training and tournament use in full-contact armored fighting. The silhouette is based on historical sources and analog prototypes from 14th–15th c. Europe, with geometry adapted for sustained impact loads.
Protection comes from a closed form: the skull and visor cover the forehead/temples and face, with load-bearing areas designed to handle repeated strikes and pressure in clinch. The included chainmail aventail helps close the lower edge and the transition to neck protection when your kit is assembled as a system.
Mobility is managed through fit and balance. Internal volume is intended for padding, so you dial in retention with replaceable layers while keeping vision and breathing control consistent. The set includes a Simon strap to help keep the helmet stable during grappling, and straps are designed for straightforward replacement.
Serviceability matters in full contact: belts, fasteners, and suspension elements are accessible for quick repairs between rounds. In build logic, this helmet typically aligns with common inspection checkpoints across major rulesets (buhurt, IMCF, HMB, etc.), but final approval depends on the specific event rules and your complete protective setup (liner, neck/gorget, chin retention).
