Product description
Sugarloaf is a late type of great helm (first half of the 14th century), made with reference to historical sources and widely documented European prototypes. The defining feature is the sharp conical crown: this geometry encourages weapon strikes to slide rather than “stick” on the top.
The external brass cross is a visual accent; the build is oriented toward full contact / buhurt use: closed face profile, rigid shell behavior, and retention that keeps the helmet from shifting under contact.
- Included: mail aventail, padded liner with hidden additional plates, and fastening straps.
- Fit & mobility: the liner works as damping and helps control play; straps allow practical adjustment within standard sizing.
- Durability & service: aventail and straps are straightforward to replace; the liner can be removed for drying and maintenance.
- Tournament checks: geometry and package are aligned with typical requirements used by many organizers (IMCF, HMB, etc.), while acceptance depends on the selected configuration, condition, and the specific event rules.
Use note: dry the liner and mail after fights, check strap tension and fasteners, and keep steel protected from moisture to limit corrosion.
