Blackened Sallet Helmet with Visor and Bevor
European 15th-century sallet with a lifting visor and bevor to protect jaw and neck. The dome has a longitudinal stiffening rib and an extended nape tail. The bevor can be hinged open for breathing/ventilation, or made as a fixed version. Blackened finish reduces glare and is practical in field maintenance with regular oiling. Designed for full-contact armored combat and common event inspections (without promising automatic approval).

Product description
Sallet with bevor is a 15th-century European helmet based on historical analogs and built with the realities of full-contact armored combat in mind. The “sallet + visor + bevor” layout covers the head, nape, jaw and front of the neck while keeping workable mobility through moving parts.
- Protection & durability: extended nape tail plus the longitudinal stiffening rib on the dome improve impact resistance; the bevor shields the jawline and front neck.
- Vision & handling: the visor lifts for visibility and servicing, then closes right before the fight—useful for staging and between rounds.
- Breathing & ventilation: the bevor can open on a hinge for easier breathing; a fixed-bevor version can be made if preferred.
- Finish & maintenance: blackening reduces glare and helps with basic surface care, but still requires drying and oiling after training/events.
- Fit & compatibility: dome geometry and bevor line are shaped with head/neck anatomy in mind; proper fit is achieved via correct sizing and an under-helmet liner.
- Serviceability: moving joints (visor/bevor) should be kept clean, checked for play, and lubricated—this extends service life during the season.
In terms of coverage and layout, this helmet typically aligns with common inspection criteria used in buhurt and related rulesets (e.g., HMB/ACL/SCA), but final approval always depends on the specific event and its armor check.
