Kovalevka is an eastern combat helmet for buhurt and other full-contact formats, shaped after Golden Horde analogues of the late 13th–early 14th century. The set includes a mail aventail, a soft padded liner with hidden additional plates, and a strap system for stable hold. A traditional fabric-covered burlet helps dampen part of the impact and protects the rim area. Fit is tuned by liner thickness and strap adjustment.

Product description

Eastern combat helmet “Kovalevka” is built for full-contact armored fighting (buhurt/full contact). The shape and details follow historical sources and Golden Horde analogues of the late 13th–early 14th century as a prototype reference, without claiming absolute reconstruction.

Included set covers core fighting needs: a mail aventail, a soft padded liner with hidden additional plates, and a strap system. This helps keep the helmet stable on impact and under clinch pressure.

A traditional fabric-covered burlet is fitted on the crown. The burlet takes part of the impact load and protects rim/edges from constant contact with steel. The fabric can be made with a standard pattern or an agreed design.

Fit and sizing: choose the size by head circumference; final tuning is done by liner thickness and strap adjustment. The internal geometry accounts for common head anatomy (shape, occipital area, seating) without implying automatic bespoke measuring.

Use and maintenance: dry the liner and fabric burlet after fights, check straps and aventail fasteners regularly. Serviceable parts are easier to replace between events than repairing the shell, so routine inspection matters.

Event checks: the helmet can be configured with common rulesets in mind (HMB, IMCF and other formats), but final approval depends on the specific event requirements and the gear condition at inspection.
