Khorosan-type helmet with a carved steel crown and a wide mail aventail. The ribbed dome helps spread impacts over the crown area, while side cheek plates cover ears. The mail curtain protects face, neck and shoulder line without a rigid collar—practical for clinch work. Material/thickness options are selected on the product page; padding is chosen separately. Before events, confirm your ruleset’s face-protection requirements for a buhurt helmet.

Product description

Buhurt helmet in the Khorosan style with a carved steel crown. The silhouette follows historical sources and analogues of 14th-century Eastern helmets often seen in iconography of steppe warriors, including Mongol-era imagery.

Built for full contact: a rigid ribbed dome works on top impact management, and the crown band (in the spirit of “turban” helmet decoration) reinforces the brow line while remaining a functional decorative element. Below, a full mail aventail covers face, neck and shoulders; cheek plates add side coverage for ears and cheekbones.

  • Protection: ribbed dome + reinforced upper edge, extended mail coverage for neck/shoulders, side plates at the ears.
  • Mobility: the mail moves in clinch and during torso rotation, without the restriction of a rigid collar.
  • Fit: dome geometry and brow line are shaped for head anatomy; stability depends on proper padding and secure strapping.
  • Serviceability: the mail can be repaired by replacing damaged rings; fastening points are accessible for maintenance.

Tournament checks: practical compliance depends on selected options (material/thickness), the helmet’s condition, and your league’s rules. Inspectors typically look at coverage of risk zones, safe edges, and the accepted type of face protection—verify your ruleset in advance.

Use: pair with adequate padding, keep the helmet seated on the occiput, and regularly inspect edges and aventail attachments. Dry and oil the metal after fights to reduce corrosion.
