Eastern gauntlets: mobile plate-and-mail hand cover
Stylized Eastern gauntlets with segmented plates over the back of the hand and a mail cuff at the wrist. They keep grip mobility thanks to a soft palm and articulated plate layout. Laced/sewn edges make basic field maintenance straightforward. Use with a padded underglove for more stable fit and impact damping. Designed for reenactment, demos and light sparring; full-contact buhurt usually requires heavier hand protection.

Product description
Eastern gauntlets are a stylized hand protection inspired by Eastern historical prototypes and iconography. The build focuses on grip work: articulated plates cover the back of the hand and the knuckle area, while the mail cuff overlaps the wrist and the sleeve edge.
Practical features for use and maintenance:
- Mobility: segmented plates follow wrist flexion; the palm remains soft, so you can hold a weapon and work in clinch without excessive restriction.
- Coverage: rigid back-of-hand plating and knuckle reinforcement reduce the chance of cuts and bruising from glancing hits; mail adds overlap at the wrist.
- Durability: stitched/laced edges allow simple replacement of cords and liners when worn, without complex disassembly.
- Fit: the geometry follows typical hand anatomy and a natural grip angle; a padded underglove helps stabilize the gauntlet and improves impact damping.
Full-contact note: this model is stated as not suitable for buhurt. Full-contact events often demand higher rigidity, finger coverage and shock absorption, so check your event rules and the equipment inspection requirements before use.
