Mittens that keep a mail look while using a hidden plate core under the rings. Coverage includes back of hand, fingers and a flared cuff to spread impact in clinch and weapon work. Mitten layout with a separate thumb keeps grip and reduces finger exposure compared to open mail gloves. Built for buhurt and other full-contact formats; inspection outcomes depend on local rules and the condition of the gear. Size is chosen by glove size and liner thickness.

Product description

Mail gauntlets in a mitten layout for buhurt and other full-contact formats. Outside you get a mail surface; inside there is a plate core, so the back of the hand is not relying on rings alone to manage impact.

The build is based on early medieval historical analogs seen across both Eastern and European traditions: the silhouette reads as mail gloves, while the rigid protection stays fully hidden under the mail.

  • Hidden plate protection under the mail covers the back of the hand, the fingers, and the cuff zone. With no external plates, the gauntlet tends to snag less on shield rim, haft, and straps.
  • Mitten geometry with a separate thumb supports a working grip and improves finger survivability in clinch compared to open mail gloves.
  • A flared cuff helps protect the wrist and manage sliding blows; the quilted liner reduces bruising and rubbing.

Fit: sizing follows glove size; final feel is tuned by underglove/liner thickness. The shape accounts for hand anatomy (thumb angle, volume) to keep the grip from fighting the user.

Use and maintenance: mail can be serviced with ring replacement and local patches; the inner core should be checked for play in fasteners and for liner wear. Dry thoroughly after training, apply light protection, and keep edges and overlaps in safe condition.

For tournament inspections, typical points are the absence of sharp elements, adequate coverage of hand/wrist, and overall serviceable condition. Final approval depends on the ruleset (HMB, IMCF, ACL, etc.) and the state of the gear at check-in.
