Visby 3 sport brigandine is a torso armor styled from Visby battlefield finds (Type 3 in Thordeman classification). The sport version adds back and clavicle plates to improve coverage in clinch, shield pressure, and tight exchanges. The shell uses thick wool bonded to durable tarpaulin; each rivet sits on a leather washer to reduce tear-out under load. Plate material options may vary, affecting weight and stiffness.

Product description

Visby 3 sport brigandine is a plate torso armor styled from historical sources and analogs associated with the Visby finds. The build follows the “Type 3” approach (Thordeman classification): large plates provide consistent coverage and a straightforward layout for service.

The sport version adds extra plates on the back and clavicle area. This targets common impact and pressure zones in clinch work and shield contact, while keeping functional mobility by separating rigid zones and avoiding unnecessary overlap where the body needs to rotate.

  • Base: thick wool bonded with durable tarpaulin for shape retention and training durability.
  • Rivets: leather washer under each rivet to spread load and protect the textile layer.
  • Plates: available in multiple material options (final weight/stiffness depend on selection) without locking the product to a single spec.
  • Fit: geometry is designed around torso anatomy and use with an arming garment; correct sizing matters for both protection and movement.

Use & maintenance: large-plate architecture helps with replacing individual elements after dents or wear. Inspect rivets, edges, and strap contact points regularly, and dry the base after training to preserve the shell layers.

Tournament checks: the concept is aimed at full-contact formats (buhurt/armored combat). Final acceptance depends on event rules, sizing, and the rest of your kit—confirm with the current regulations and marshals before competing.
