European triangular shield size M (52×70 cm). Build: two layers of plywood with total thickness 8 mm, fabric-covered outside with black paint. The rim is wrapped with 4 mm thick leather to reduce edge chipping and keep contact along the rim more controlled. The outline follows historical European “heater” prototypes and is suited for regular training and full-contact formats where torso coverage and predictable handling matter.

Product description

European triangular shield size M is a utilitarian option for full-contact armored fighting (buhurt/duels) when you need torso coverage without turning the shield into dead weight in the clinch.

Size: 52×70 cm. This footprint helps protect the torso on a diagonal line and keeps movement readable when you change levels and drive with the shoulder.

Core: two-layer plywood with a total thickness of 8 mm. A layered core handles repeated impacts better and is less prone to splitting compared to a single thin sheet under regular use.

Outer facing: fabric-covered and painted black. The fabric layer helps reduce surface splintering and makes maintenance simpler—finishes can be refreshed after hard training blocks.

Edge protection: wrapped with 4 mm leather edging. This improves rim survivability, helps prevent edge damage, and supports common safety expectations around covered edges.

Historical basis: the shape is developed with reference to European sources and period analogues of “heater shield” forms, without claiming absolute one-to-one reconstruction.

Service & upkeep:

  • inspect the rim and fastening areas before sessions;
  • leather edging and outer facing can be replaced/renewed as they wear;
  • dry naturally after getting wet; avoid overheating.

About tournament inspections: covered edges, no sharp protrusions, and overall integrity are typically aligned with common rule sets (HMB, IMCF, and others). Final approval is always event-specific and depends on inspectors, rules, and your equipment condition.
