Product description

Eastern kalkan shield size L is a practical option for full-contact armored fighting (buhurt and duel-oriented formats). The shape is based on historical sources and prototypes of Eastern round shields, while the build is tuned for regular impact loads.

Protection and durability: a 2–3-layer plywood core faced with durable fabric on both sides. The rim is additionally reinforced with fabric layers and finished with a thick leather edge to slow down splitting and perimeter wear from steel-on-shield contact. The center is reinforced with a 2 mm steel cone, supporting the strike zone and helping resist concentrated hits.

Mobility and control: the shield includes a soft arm pillow and two grip options to set a stable wrist/elbow position for your style (shield pressure, redirects, clinch work). A 65–70 cm diameter provides torso coverage without forcing excessive shoulder tension during movement.

Fit and maintenance: handling is adjusted through strap/grip setup and glove thickness; these components are serviceable and can be replaced as they wear. Facing, edging, and fasteners are consumables you can refresh after hard use.

Tournament inspections: edge finishing and overall build are aligned with common safety expectations across multiple rule sets (covered rim, no sharp protrusions, secure hardware). Final acceptance depends on the event, inspectors, and equipment condition.

Finish: decorated with an Eastern-style pattern; the artwork can be changed on request without tying the product to a fixed template.
