Quilted chausses under leg armor for buhurt
Quilted chausses are an under-armor layer designed to be worn beneath armored legs in buhurt / full contact historical combat. They help soften impact, spread pressure from straps and edges, and reduce rubbing during long sessions.
The base version uses durable cotton fabric with a thick inner padding layer. Quilting keeps the padding in place and helps the garment hold its shape through regular use. The cut is built around a natural knee position, providing a comfortable bend so the legs can work without the underlayer pulling hard when you squat, lunge, or stand up from a knee.
Attachment is done via loops to a waist belt. This improves stability: padded chausses shift less during clinch exchanges, sprints, and footwork, which helps keep your leg armor sitting consistently.
Service and repairs: dry after training, inspect seams and belt loops, and reinforce high-stress points when needed. Typical repairs are straightforward—seam restitching and local reinforcement—without rebuilding the whole garment.
Historical basis: the design is based on historical analogs and sources for quilted under-armor garments, adapted for modern buhurt loads.
Event checks: these chausses can be part of kits inspected under different rule sets (IMCF, HMB, etc.). Final approval depends on the full equipment setup, condition, and the specific event requirements.
