Product description

This chainmail is built for buhurt and other full-contact formats where coverage, mobility, and service life matter. The mail fabric uses a combination of solid and riveted rings with a 10 mm ring diameter (other parameters can be produced on request).

Protection and durability. Mail is a flexible layer that helps against sliding contact, snagging, and surface cuts. For impact management in hard contact, it is typically used as part of a system with a gambeson/padding and/or plate elements on top to spread load and close vulnerable zones.

Mobility. The structure follows body movement in clinch, grappling, and weapon work, without the hard stops that some rigid shells create. Breathability is higher than solid plate coverage, which supports longer training blocks.

Fit and integration. Geometry is based on typical body proportions to keep the mail stable on the shoulders and reduce shifting under contact. When choosing size, account for your padding thickness and retention method (belt/suspension) to reduce sag and shoulder fatigue.

Service and repairs. Most damage is handled locally: replacing rings, restoring a small weave section, and maintaining edges and attachment points. Dry after use, clean regularly, and inspect for opened or thinned rings.

Event checks. Compliance is ruleset-dependent: inspections commonly focus on zone coverage, integration with the rest of the kit, and overall condition. Always validate parameters against your event’s regulations.

Historical basis. Manufacturing is guided by historical sources and period analogues of mail armor from different regions and eras, with practical adjustments for modern full-contact use.
