Product description
Light protective gauntlet for the shield hand in buhurt and other full-contact formats where the shield carries most of the impact load. The shell protects the back of the hand, knuckles, thumb area and wrist, while keeping the palm freer for strap work and reliable shield control.
- Protection: overlapping plates over the knuckle line and fingers + separate thumb cover; the long flared cuff screens the wrist and the start of the forearm.
- Mobility: segmented geometry on the hand reduces binding on flex and helps maintain grip. Intended to be worn over a padded inner glove/mitten.
- Weight: typically around 0.6–0.9 kg per piece (depending on the selected material), which keeps the shield side responsive during long rounds.
- Fit: shaped with hand anatomy in mind and sized for common glove sizes; leave room for padding without over-tightening the wrist.
- Serviceability: riveted construction and a simple part layout make it easier to maintain — tighten hardware, replace straps/liner, and rework edges after contact.
Historical basis: the silhouette follows European gauntlet and long-cuff mitten analogs from period sources and prototypes, adapted for sportive full-contact use. Finished edges and coverage are aimed at typical tournament safety inspections (final acceptance always depends on the event rules and the marshals).
Sold per piece — practical for upgrading the shield hand or building a pair for your kit.
