Product description
Mail armpits were a necessary part of a late medieval knight’s protection. Despite the fact that with the development of plate armor the role of mail significantly decreased, the need to protect certain areas of the body with mail remained. As a rule, mail was used to protect gaps in places where greater mobility was required, such as the armpits, the hip joint, the neck, and the elbow bend. In these areas it was difficult to create effective plate protection, and it would also restrict the warrior’s movement. Therefore, the role of mail continued to be important. At the same time, there was no need to wear a full heavy mail shirt; mail elements were worn separately. Use mail armpits if you want your armor to look as historically authentic as possible!
